- From 1997 to 2001 he was a partner in Asesores Legales y de Inversiones and then for two years was a partner with Stanbrook & Hooper Law Firm at the Madrid Branch.
- He ran his own law firm, Butragueño Abogados from 2002 to 2012 was Off-Counsel at Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira, from 2012 to 2015 and returned to running his own firm, Buenavista Abogados between 2016 and 2017.
